Stop Animal Cruelty: For a Cage-free Ukraine!
Today, millions of hens across Ukraine are confined to cramped battery cages on factory farms. These intelligent and social animals are denied the ability to move freely, stretch their wings, or breathe fresh air – for their entire lives. While all large-scale egg production compromises animal welfare, it is within the battery cages that hens suffer the most, both physically and psychologically. Their suffering is difficult to put into words. It must end.
Fortunately, change is happening. Countries like Sweden, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, and Denmark have already banned or are in the process of banning cages. More than 2,700 companies across Europe have committed to cage-free production, and the European Union is taking major steps toward a future without cages.
Ukraine must not fall behind. To protect animals and align with upcoming EU legislation, Ukraine needs to act now. A direct transition from outdated cages to cage-free systems is both necessary and achievable.
